The Snug Project is delivered by Care Leavers Collective CIC. Our First Night in Care pilot will reach 500 children across Wales with a Snug pack, alongside training for the carers and professionals supporting them.

💛About the Snug Project
A child arriving somewhere unfamiliar may have very little that feels like theirs. Snug offers one small, steady thing to hold close while the adults around them begin to build safety and trust.
The Snug Project brings together a teddy that belongs to the child, a gentle story, first night essentials and training for carers and professionals. It is about the welcome a child receives, the choices they are offered and the way they are understood when the door closes.
Thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, our First Night in Care pilot will reach 500 children across Wales. Donations help us develop and extend this work so more children can feel seen, comforted and valued.

Snug Guardian Band
The yellow Snug Guardian band is worn by adults who want to stand alongside the Snug Project and show that children entering care matter.
It is more than a wristband. It is a visible commitment to notice the child, look beyond behaviour and help create the safety, connection and belonging every child deserves.
The words “You Matter” carry the message at the heart of Snug. By wearing the band, you become part of a growing community committed to ensuring children entering care feel seen, valued and less alone.

Snug’s First Night 🌙
Snug’s First Night tells the story of a little teddy on his very first night with a child in care. Told from Snug’s perspective, the story gently follows his journey as he experiences the emotions of his new friend: uncertainty, fear, and curiosity about this unfamiliar world.From bedtime routines to the quiet moments when a child might feel scared or alone, Snug is there, a comforting presence, a listening ear, and a steady companion.
The story helps children see that it’s okay to have big feelings, and that even small things like a teddy or a familiar routine, can bring reassurance. At the front of the book, you’ll find a special message for children, reminding them that they are brave, loved, and not alone. There’s also a journal section at the back, inviting children to express their feelings, draw, or write about their own experiences, helping them process emotions and celebrate small victories.
Snug’s First Night isn’t just a story, it’s a toolkit for comfort, understanding, and connection during a challenging time. Every copy purchased also supports the Snug Project, spreading reassurance and warmth even further.

Children in care have often experienced fractured attachments. Snug offers a consistent, non-judgmental companion that can help:
